Biography

South Texas Dermatopathology Laboratory, a Sonic Healthcare dermatopathology practice, is pleased to include Michael P. Orejudos, M.D., to its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Orejudos has an impressive academic and professional background, including military experience.

Dr. Orejudos earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and chemistry from the University of California San Diego in La Jolla. Subsequently, he earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He then completed a transitional internship at the Malcom Grow Medical Center at National Capital Consortium Andrews AFB in Maryland and the United States Air Force Aerospace Primary Course.

Dr. Orejudos transitioned to San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas, where he trained as an anatomy and clinical pathology resident and was Chief Pathology Resident in his final year. Here, he also completed a cytopathology fellowship before concluding his post-graduate training with a dermatopathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Over the years, Dr. Orejudos has developed extensive professional experience. He began his career at the David Grant Medical Center in Travis AFB, California, where he served as staff cytopathologist, Medical Director of Microbiology, Medical Director of Transfusion Services, and Chief of Cytopathology. He also worked at 61 Medical Squadron Lab. PathLogic LLC, Yosemite Pathology Medical Group, and ASWBPL-West. He is currently at the Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam in Houston Texas as the lab’s staff dermatopathologist
and cytopathologist.

Dr. Orejudos has been honored with various academic awards as well as decorations and medals for his service in the Air Force. He has also written articles, which have been published in peer-reviewed journals, and is a member of many professional medical organizations, including the American Society of Dermatopathology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Dr. Orejudos holds full medical licensure in the state of California and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, cytopathology
and dermatopathology.
