Biography
ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Anthony Simms, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Simms is a double board-certified pathologist with robust professional medical, leadership, and research experience.
Dr. Simms graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Simms served a residency in general surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, New York. He then completed a second residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at New York University, where he served as chief resident. Following his residencies, he completed a fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Simms has been appointed to a variety of roles throughout his career including teaching appointments and medical directorships. He was a pathologist at South Suburban Pathologists, P.C., in Riverdale, GA. He then was granted a teaching appointment at New York University Langone Health as an assistant clinical professor of pathology. While there, he was also appointed to the position of medical director of gastrointestinal pathology at Progressive Gastroenterology in New York, NY. Following these positions,Dr. Simms started as a pathologist at ProPath in Dallas, TX, where he has served since 2019. He currently holds several medical directorships. Since 2020, he has been the PPS and PPA medical director at Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury, TX, and the medical director at thesame institution.
Dr. Simms has an extensive list of peer-reviewed publications in prestigious medical journals in the areas of pathology and oncologic pathology. These include articles published in the American Journal of Clinical Pathology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, and Cytopathology, among others. He has also presented abstracts and poster presentations at the Emory University Pathology Department and the Southeastern Pharmacology Society Annual Meeting.
