Biography

LMC Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice is privileged to include Steven Gregurek, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Gregurek has an impressive academic and professional background, complemented by a distinguished military career.

Following a pediatrics internship at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas, Dr. Gregurek completed a three-year clinical pathology residency at the Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, where he served as chief resident. He then finished a blood banking/transfusion medicine fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.

During his academic training, Dr. Gregurek served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of captain and receiving the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Air Combat Command Flight Safety Award. After completing his postgraduate training, Dr. Gregurek worked as the director of the Office of Transfusion Safety and the associate medical director of Blood Bank and Apheresis Services at Indiana University Health. He was later the director of Nevada and Texas Regional Medical Operations at United Blood Services in Las Vegas. He was also an assistant professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at Indiana University, where he won the Faculty Award for his teaching of clinical pathology. He has been a staff pathologist with LMC Pathology Services since 2012.

Dr. Gregurek is a member of several medical organizations, including the International Society of Blood Transfusion and the American Association of Blood Banks.  

Dr. Gregurek has coauthored and contributed to more than 40 articles, abstracts and book chapters published in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and has given many presentations at professional society meetings. In addition, he has created four medical training simulators, such as Plateteletron©.

Dr. Gregurek holds full medical licensure and is board certified in clinical pathology, transfusion medicine, and blood banking.
