Biography

Consultants in Laboratory Medicine, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include NurJehan Quraishy, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Quraishy is a board-certified pathologist who brings extensive professional experience and a robust publication list to her position. 

Dr. Quraishy earned her medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed an internal medicine internship at the Civil Hospital in Karachi. She then served a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, where she held the position of chief resident. She completed another anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. She’s completed several fellowships. Following her residencies, she was an NIH Research Fellow in pathology at the Medical College of Ohio (known now as the University of Toledo Medical Center) in Toledo. She then completed a fellowship in blood banking for American Red Cross Blood Services of the Western Lake Erie Region. These were followed by a yearlong teaching scholars fellowship at the Medical College of Ohio. 

Dr. Quraishy has considerable experience, including teaching and directorships, in a variety of medical settings. She was the laboratory director at Ohio Diagnostics Laboratory in Toledo. She was then an adjunct assistant professor, also at the Medical College of Ohio, during which she was also a consultant in transfusion medicine at the Toledo Hospital. She spent time as transfusion medical director at Bay Park Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. She held the position of medical director of American Red Cross Blood Services. Prior to joining Consultants of Laboratory Medicine, she was the section head and medical director of transfusion medicine at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, clinical assistant professor in the pathology department at the University of Toledo Medical Center, and an assistant professor in the pathology department at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. 

Dr. Quraishy has an extensive publication and research background. She has given over 40 presentations as an invited speaker and has published over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts. She has been published in journals such as Advances in Clinical Chemistry, Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Clinical Pathology, and the Journal of Clinical Apheresis, among many others.  

Dr. Quraishy is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies, Society of Advancement in Blood Management, and the American Society of Clinical Pathology. 

Dr. Quraishy holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and blood banking.
