Biography
CBLPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Dongsheng Xu, M.D., Ph.D., F.C.A.P., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Xu is a double board-certified, award-winning pathologist who brings professional medical and leadership experience to his role. He has special interests in hematology and molecular pathology.
Dr. Xu earned his medical degree from the First Military Medical University in Guangzhou, China. He completed a medical residency and a fellowship in hematology at the Third Military Medical University in Chongqing, China. Dr. Xu graduated with a doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where he also completed a research fellowship in gastroenterology and hematology. He completed an anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Jackson Memorial Medical Center, University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He then completed another residency in clinical pathology and a fellowship in hematopathology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York.
Dr. Xu was an assistant professor in Boston University Medical Center’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in Massachusetts. He was also the medical director of hematology and flow cytometry laboratory while at Boston University.
Dr. Xu has an extensive list of publications. He has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and one book chapter. Dr. Xu has presented at multiple national and international conferences. He is a sought-after lecturer in the area of hematology and the recipient of numerous awards.
Dr. Xu is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the American Society of Hematology, the International Society for Laboratory Hematology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.
Dr. Xu holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematology by the American Board of Pathology.
