Biography

Cascade Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to welcome Benjamin James Kukull, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Kukull brings with him a wealth of academic achievements and professional experience.

Dr. Kukull graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology with a commendation for academic excellence from Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Subsequently, he was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to study at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, Czech Republic. Here, he also received his medical degree from the First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University.

Dr. Kukull began his postgraduate training at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, where he completed an anatomic and clinical pathology residency. He then completed two fellowships at ARUP Laboratories in association with the University of Utah: one in molecular genetic pathology and the other in microbiology. Dr. Kukull’s specific areas of professional interests are molecular pathology, microbiology and infectious disease, general surgical pathology, and targeted and immunomodulatory therapies.

Dr. Kukull has participated in various research efforts focused on these areas and has received accolades for these endeavors. He has also been published in several peer-reviewed journals and online articles.

Dr. Kukull is a member of several distinguished organizations, including the Association of Molecular Pathology (AMP), and is a fellow member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). He regularly participates in multidisciplinary tumor boards, interdepartmental conferences, and CAP inspections.

Dr. Kukull holds full medical licensure and is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology, molecular genetic pathology, and medical microbiology.
