Biography

Austin Pathology Associates, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Kelly Khan, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. An accomplished presenter and educator with a rich academic history, Dr. Khan brings a great depth of knowledge and experience to our pathology team.

Dr. Khan received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. She began her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Tulane University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Following Hurricane Katrina, she transferred to the University of Arkansas, and completed her residency at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Here, she later served as Chief Fellow of Surgical Pathology in the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine, and subsequently completed a fellowship in cytopathology, concluding her postgraduate training.

As an active member of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown, Texas, Dr. Khan regularly contributes to their Sepsis Committee, Quality Council, Infection Prevention Committee, and Peer Review Committee, among other important roles. Here, she is also the Laboratory Medical Director, a position she holds concurrent to her position at Austin Pathology.

Dr. Khan has performed a variety of academic activities at several hospitals, including monthly case presentations for the Interdisciplinary Tumor Board at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital; and educational presentations for the laboratory staff of St. David’s Heart Hospital of Austin.

Dr. Khan is a member of several professional medical organizations, including the Texas Medical Association and the American Society for Cytopathology. She is board certified in cytopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She holds full medical licensure in the state of Texas.

In addition to her award-winning presentations, Dr. Khan has also co-authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed publications, as well as Methodist Hospital’s Clinical Pathology Call Manual.
