Biography

University Pathologists, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice is privileged to include Catherine M. Breen, M.D., MPH, to its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Breen has an impressive and extensive academic and medical professional background.

Dr. Breen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, graduating with distinction, summa cum laude, from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She then went on to earn her Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Subsequently, she earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. She completed two anatomic and clinical pathology residencies, at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. She then completed her dermatopathology fellowship at the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. 

Dr. Breen transitioned to the Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI where she held positions as staff pathologist and dermatopathologist within the department of pathology and laboratory medicine. In addition to these positions, she also held the position as an instructor in pathology and laboratory medicine at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts.

Over the years, Dr. Breen has developed extensive professional and teaching experience. She has been invited to prestigious meetings and conferences, and actively takes part in presentations and posters both domestically and internationally. Her current positions put her in an outstanding and recognizable position as a medical professional serving the greater community.

Dr. Breen has been honored with various academic achievements, and holds several professional medical licenses, certifications, and publications, in addition to her extensive research. She is a member of the College of American Pathologists, American Society of Dermatopathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Dr. Breen holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and dermatopathology.
