Biography

South Texas Dermatopathology, a Sonic Healthcare dermatopathology practice is privileged to include Charles S. Stevens, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Stevens has extensive professional experience with an impressive academic background.

Dr. Stevens graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. He went on to attend North Texas State University in Denton, where he received his Master of Science degree in mathematics. He took premed courses at Florida State University in Tallahassee before receiving his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio.

While at the University of Texas, Dr. Stevens served an internal medicine internship at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital, where he later completed a three-year dermatology residency. He concluded his postgraduate training with a dermatopathology fellowship at the New York University Langone Medical Center in New York City, studying under Dr. A. Bernard Ackerman.

Dr. Stevens spent several years as a Nuclear Physicist with General Dynamics before pursuing a career in medicine. After his academic training, he spent 10 years on the Clinical Faculty of the University of Texas Health Science Center in their Dermatology and Pathology Divisions. He has worked with South Texas Dermatopathology since 1982.

Dr. Stevens is a member of nine professional medical organizations, including the International Society of Dermatopathology and the College of American Pathologists. He holds full medical licensure in the states of Minnesota and Texas and is board certified in dermatopathology and dermatology.

Dr. Stevens authored and coauthored seven articles that have subsequently been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has also given many presentations at universities and professional society meetings.
