Biography

University Pathologists, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Rana Aldrees, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Aldrees is a board-certified pathologist with robust medical education and research experience, including an extensive list of publications and presentations at professional conferences.

Dr. Aldrees earned her medical degree from King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, followed by a clinical internship at the same institution. Prior to her residency, she was a research fellow at George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. She served her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She then completed a fellowship in cytopathology at The Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Following her cytopathology fellowship, she moved to Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was a clinical fellow while simultaneously completing a fellowship in breast pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Dr. Aldrees has numerous peer-reviewed publications along with oral and poster presentations at professional conferences. She has manuscripts published in journals such as the International Journal of Surgical Pathology, Modern Pathology, and Transfusion and Apheresis Science. She has presented her research at professional society meetings such as the annual meetings of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists, and the American Society for Cytopathology.

Dr. Aldrees belongs to several professional organizations, including the International Academy of Cytopathology, American Society for Cytopathology, College of American Pathologists, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Dr. Aldrees holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
