Biography

LMC Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include Bert G. Dougherty, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Dougherty has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic and teaching background.

Dr. Dougherty graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his residency in pathology at the University of Texas at Houston/Hermann Hospital. He completed an additional pathology residency at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital/Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Dougherty went on to complete a fellowship in cytopathology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and a fellowship in surgical pathology at the same institution. Upon completing his postgraduate training, he concurrently served as the chief of staff at the Medical Center of South Arkansas and the president of Arkansas Society of Pathology.

Dr. Dougherty’s interests include cytopathology, hematopathology, GI pathology, clinical pathology, and surgical pathology. His specialization is in tumor pathology.

Dr. Dougherty holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
