Biography

Dr. Maryam Bakhshandeh is board certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She received her M.D. degree from Hamadan University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. Dr. Bakhshandeh completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Saint Barnabas Health Care System Integrated Residency Program in Livingston, New Jersey with elective rotations in dermatopathology at both the Mount Sinai Hospital and the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology in New York City. Subsequently, she completed a two-year fellowship in breast pathology at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center under world-renowned breast pathologist Dr. Shahla Masood combined with a breast research at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She is actively involved in breast cancer research and has published several articles on breast disease in peer-reviewed journals, including The Journal of the American Medical Association, The Breast Journal and Diagnostic Cytopathology. Additionally, she has presented on breast diseases as a breast pathology expert in a panel discussion at the annual meetings of the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC), and presented at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and the American Society of Cytopathology. Dr. Bakhshandeh is a member of the American Society of Breast Disease, National Consortium of Breast Centers, International Society of Breast Pathology, World Society for Breast Health, College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
