Biography

Seacoast Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Ryan M. Paolino, D.O., as part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Paolino has robust professional experience, including extensive work in the medical field for the United States Army.

Dr. Paolino graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. He spent a year training at the University of New England College of Health Professionals before earning his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Paolino completed his pathology residency in the Army at two medical centers. The first part of his residency was at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The remaining years were spent at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, where he held the position of chief resident.

Dr. Paolino has held a number of positions in the Army as a pathologist, including a number of medical directorships. After completing his residency, he was the medical director of transfusion services at Madigan Army Medical Center and the medical director of the Armed Services Blood Bank Center-Pacific Northwest, also in Tacoma. He was then appointed to the position of medical director of decentralized laboratory services, also at Madigan Army Medical Center. Following his time in Washington, he became the chief of clinical pathology at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. During this time, he was also medical director of transfusion services at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center and the medical director of the Kendrick Memorial Blood Donor Center at Fort Gordon, both in Augusta. Dr. Paolino has sat on multiple committees and tumor boards. He was the co-chair of the blood utilization committee at Madigan Army Medical Center and the Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He was also a member of the trauma committees and the multidisciplinary tumor boards at Madigan Army Medical Center and the Eisenhower Army Medical Center. Prior to joining Seacoast Pathology, he was the staff pathologist at Spectrum Healthcare Providers in Portland and Lewiston, ME.

Dr. Paolino has given a variety of presentations at professional conferences including the annual meeting of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and a conference for the American Society of Dermatopathology. Dr. Paolino belongs to two professional societies, the College of American Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Dr. Paolino holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
