Biography

Austin Pathology Associates, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Chad Hruska, M.D., to our medical staff. Dr. Hruska has extensive knowledge and experience in pathology, including surgical and genitourinary pathology.

Dr. Hruska obtained his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Texas in Austin, where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Pre-Medical Honor Society. Subsequently, he earned his medical degree from UT before relocating to Knoxville, Tennessee, and completing his anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Tennessee. During this time, he served as a delegate for the College of American Pathologists Resident Forums and as a resident member of the UTMCK Medical Executive Committee, Clinical Cancer Committee, and Resident Patient Safety Subcommittee. He was also given the opportunity to lecture on various pathology-related topics to undergraduate students, residents, and laboratory employees at the University of Tennessee and the Molecular Pathology Laboratory Network.

Dr. Hruska concluded his postgraduate training as a fellow at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, where he focused on surgical and genitourinary pathology, receiving the Department Chair’s Funds for Mentored Trainee Research. He began his professional career as an associate pathologist at CellNetix Pathology and Laboratories in Tacoma, Washington.

Dr. Hruska is a member of multiple professional societies, including the American Society of Dermatopathology, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He has supported the CAP Inspection Team, contributing to their research on hematology and coagulation, flow cytometry, and immunology both as an interim and official member. He has also given numerous oral and poster presentations at annual meetings, where he once won first place for his case report and has written abstracts and articles for peer- reviewed publications.

Dr. Hruska has medical licensure in Washington State and Alaska. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
