Biography

Cascade Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Jianzhou Wang, M.D., Ph.D., as a member of our medical staff. Serving Cascade Pathology Services since 2007, Dr. Wang has extensive hospital and research experience with an impressive academic and teaching background.

Dr. Wang graduated with a medical degree from the Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China. He completed his Ph.D. in molecular genetics and biochemistry at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania, graduating with honors, with a thesis focused on the role of sodium channel in human genetic disease.

Dr. Wang later completed a postdoctoral research appointment at the Chinese Academy of Medical Science Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology in Beijing, followed by a molecular genetics fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Wang went on to complete an anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the final year of which he served as chief resident. He subsequently completed a surgical pathology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, followed by a breast pathology fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

During his academic training, and into his professional career, Dr. Wang received many awards and honors in recognition of his achievement, including the Mayor Caligiuri Foundation fellowship. He was voted as one of the best doctors in Louisiana for the 2006-2007 year.

Dr. Wang is currently a member of three professional medical organizations: the College of American Pathologists, the Society of Pediatric Pathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. He has full medical licensure in the states of Oregon and Washington, and is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Dr. Wang has coauthored 32 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters published in medical journals and textbooks. He has also presented over 30 abstracts, lectures and workshops to professional society meetings and universities alike.
