Biography
Pacific Point Laboratories, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Brandie Firetag, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Firetag is a board-certified pathologist with subspecialty expertise in cytopathology.
Dr. Firetag graduated with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. She served her clinical pathology and anatomic pathology residencies at the University of California San Francisco. While at UC San Francisco, she completed fellowships in cytology and surgical pathology.
Dr. Firetag has held numerous positions in medical settings around California. Since 2017, she has been the medical director of anatomic and clinical pathology at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, CA. She has been the medical director of anatomic and clinical pathology at Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton, CA, since 2020. Prior to joining Pacific Point Laboratories as medical director, she was the medical director of anatomic and clinical pathology at WestPac Labs, Central Coast, in San Luis Obispo. In addition to her medical directorships, Dr. Firetag is the current vice chief of medical staff at Adventist Health Sierra Vista.
Dr. Firetag has peer-reviewed manuscripts published in the American Journal of Surgical Pathology and the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. She has also presented her research at annual meetings of the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists, American Academy of Neurology, American College of Gastroenterology, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and the American Society of Dermatopathology.
Dr. Firetag is a member of the American Society of Cytopathology, College of American Pathologists, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.
Dr. Firetag holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and cytopathology. She also holds certification as a lab inspector for the College of American Pathologists.
