Biography

GPA Laboratories, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include Natalie D. Depcik-Smith, M.D., as a member of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Depcik-Smith has an extensive academic and medical professional background.

Dr. Depcik-Smith earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduating with honors and distinction.  She received her medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. After an internal medicine internship at the University of Michigan, she went on to complete a pathology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She went on to finish a dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville.

Dr. Depcik-Smith received several awards and honors, including the “Star” award for patient advocacy and clinical excellence during her time at the University of Michigan, and the Young Leader Award from the College of American Pathologists. Upon completion of her postgraduate training, she began holding key positions within GPA Laboratories as a dermatopathologist and laboratory director. She is chairperson of the National Dermatopathology Medical Advisory Committee (DMAC), and a member of the laboratory medical council.

Over the years, Dr. Depcik-Smith has developed extensive professional experience. She holds medical research publications and articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and textbooks, as well as oral and poster presentations at professional medical meetings and conferences. She is a fellow of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the College of American Pathologists, and an active member of the American Medical Association.

Dr. Depcik-Smith holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and dermatopathology.
