Biography

Cascade Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Daniel William Davis II, D.O., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Davis is a double board-certified pathologist who brings extensive professional medical experience to his position, including in the U.S. military. 

Dr. Davis graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Indiana University in Bloomington. He then earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from AT Still University of Health Sciences, formerly Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Kirksville, Missouri. He served a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Texas at Houston before completing a cytopathology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. 

Dr. Davis started as a staff pathologist in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. During his time at Walter Reed, he was also the medical director of autopsy services and a Navy breast pathology consultant. After these positions, he concurrently held multiple laboratory directorships. He served as laboratory director at Onco Diagnostic Services in Bethesda; Naval Branch Health Clinics at Patuxent River, Dahlgren, and Indian Head in Virginia and Maryland; and NAF Andrews Branch Health Clinic. Dr. Davis held multiple medical directorships at Walter Reed, including medical director of clinical chemistry, transfusion services, and blood donor services. After leaving Walter Reed, he held the positions of staff pathologist and medical director of clinical chemistry, transfusion services, and cytopathology at Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, Oregon. While at Bay Area Hospital, he was the laboratory director at Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport, OR. He was then staff pathologist at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, followed by staff pathologist at Legacy Health System in Portland. Dr. Davis was laboratory director at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital in Vancouver, WA. This was followed by positions at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was a staff pathologist and the section chief of transfusion services. Prior to joining Cascade Pathology Services, he was a staff pathologist at Legacy Health System in Portland. 

Dr. Davis has a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals such as ASCP Case Reports: Cytopathology, Cutis, and Digestive Diseases and Sciences. He has also presented research at professional society meetings such as meetings of the College of American Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, among others. 

Dr. Davis holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology.
