Biography

Consultants in Laboratory Medicine, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Waqar A. Khan, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Serving CLM for over ten years now, Dr. Khan has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic and research background.

Dr. Khan graduated with a pre-medical degree from Nisar Shaheed College in Pakistan. He went on to receive his medical degree from Khyber Medical College at Peshawar University in Peshawar, Pakistan.

He completed an internship at Hayal Shaheed Teaching Hospital in Internal Medicine and General Surgery. Dr. Khan completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Detroit Medical Center-Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan.

Subsequently, Dr. Khan served as Fellow in Laboratory Medicine (Transfusion Medicine) at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan and a fellowship in Hematopathoogy at the same institution. He also completed a Fellowship in Clinical Pathology from The University of Texas-M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

He currently holds full medical licensure in the state of Ohio, Texas, and Michigan and is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AC/CP) and Hematology. He is affiliated with nine hospitals and medical centers.

Dr. Khan has authored three peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented numerous abstracts at scientific meetings and conferences. He has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He has extensive teaching experience including instructorship to pathology residents, supervisory teaching and medical technology education curriculum, and invited lectures on topics such as Hematopathology and Transfusion Medicine.

Dr. Khan is a member of three medical professional organizations including the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists.
