Biography

Cunningham Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Daniel Keith Harrison, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Harrison has impressive professional and teaching experience with an extensive academic background.

Dr. Harrison graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton with his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to receive his Master of Arts degree in medical science at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. Here, Dr. Harrison went on to complete his postgraduate training, starting with a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency, followed by a clinical and research neuropathology fellowship.

During his academic training and into his professional career, Dr. Harrison served in a variety of teaching roles at the University of Alabama. He has given nearly a dozen lectures in topics ranging from neurology to pediatric neuropathology and infectious diseases. He was also an instructor in the microbiology lab and led autopsy macro-rounds.

Dr. Harrison has served on the staff of over a dozen hospitals across Alabama, including Marshal Medical Center, Brookwood Medical Center, and four hospitals in the St. Vincent Health System. He was an Associate Pathologist at the Benjamin Russel Hospital for Children in Birmingham, Alabama prior to joining Cunningham Pathology, where he has served as a Staff Pathologist and Neuropathologist since 2013.

Dr. Harrison is a member of the American Association of Neuropathologists, the College of American Pathologists, and the Society for Pediatric Pathology. He holds full medical licensure in the state of Alabama, and he is board-certified in neuropathology and anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Harrison has had the results of his research efforts published as abstracts and articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has also given many presentations at professional medical conferences.
