Biography
Austin Pathology Associates, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Xiao Yun (Sharane) Wang, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Wang brings with her extensive medical knowledge indicative of her impressive academic background.
Dr. Wang graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.
Following an internal medicine internship at the University of Utah, Dr. Wang completed a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, the final year of which she served as Chief Resident. Here, she subsequently completed a cytopathology fellowship.
Upon concluding her postgraduate training, Dr. Wang began working as a Staff Pathologist for Austin Pathology, where she has served for over ten years.
Dr. Wang is a member of four professional medical organizations, including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathologists, the American Society of Cytopathology, and the College of American Pathologists. She currently holds full medical licensure in the state of Texas and she is certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology.
Dr. Wang is the recipient of numerous awards, including the ACS Undergraduate Award in Analytical Chemistry. She was added to Southwestern University’s Distinction List.
She has authored and co-authored numerous articles that have subsequently been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has also presented several abstracts and lectures at academic meetings and medical conferences.
