Cascade Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Sarah Ann Walter, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Serving Cascade Pacific Pathology since 2008, Dr. Walter has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic and teaching background.

Dr. Walter graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology (with highest distinction) from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha.

Dr. Walter later completed a pathology internship and residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, during which she also served as Chief Resident and Laboratory Teaching Assistant for medical students. She then completed a surgical pathology fellowship, concluding her postgraduate training.

Dr. Walter’s academic and research achievements have been recognized with various awards and honors, including the Janet M. Glascow Memorial Achievement Citation from the American Medical Women’s Association, and the Outstanding Professional Award from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Walter has since had an extensive career as a medical staff member at Legacy Hospitals, including Good Samaritan Medical Center, Emanuel Medical Center, and Salmon Creek Medical Center. She was also the Laboratory Director, a member of the Medical Executive Committee, and Quality Council Chair at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center.

Dr. Walter is a member of four professional medical organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Pathologists and the College of American Pathologists. She holds full medical licensure in the states of Oregon and Washington, and is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Dr. Walter has coauthored two peer-reviewed articles for medical journals, and has contributed chapters and photographs to the Gynecologic Pathology Digital Atlas.
