Biography

University Pathologists, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is pleased to include Brian McMillen, M.D., as a member of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. McMillen has an extensive academic and medical professional background.

Dr. McMillen received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Boston University, graduating with distinction, magna cum laude. He then received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He later completed a surgical pathology fellowship at Fletcher Allen Health Care of the University of Vermont School of Medicine.

Upon completion of his postgraduate training, Dr. McMillen began holding key positions in hospitals and universities across the Northeast. He was the medical director of the histology laboratory and the immunohistochemistry laboratory of St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, New York, where he also served on the Breast Program Leadership Committee and the Cancer Care Committee. He was also a part of the teaching staff of the University of Vermont School of Medicine, and a staff pathologist for University Pathologists.

Over the years, Dr. McMillen has developed extensive professional experience. He holds medical research publications and articles in peer-reviewed medical journals as well as numerous abstracts, and oral and poster presentations at professional medical conferences and universities. He is an active member of the College of American Pathologists, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Dr. McMillen holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
