Cascade Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include Carmen Winters, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Winters has an extensive academic background with impressive teaching experience.

Dr. Winters graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence with her Bachelor of Science degree in biology/genetics. Here, she later attended their school of medicine, earning her medical degree and completing a post-sophomore pathology fellowship. During this time, she was also the recipient of the Damjanov Excellence in Pathology Award.

Dr. Winters went on to finish a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, during which she served as chief resident in her final year. She then completed a breast pathology fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

During her postgraduate training and into her professional career,
Dr. Winters acted in a variety of teaching roles at her training institutions, which included leading the gastrointestinal tumor board at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She also led five tumor boards at the Oregon Health & Sciences University, where she additionally served on five quality improvement projects and committees, such as the Department of Pathology Education Committee. Upon concluding her medical studies, she began working with Cascade Pathology Services, where she currently works as a staff pathologist.

Dr. Winters is a member of the College of American Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. She also belongs to three other professional medical organizations. She holds full medical licensure in the states of California and Oregon, and she is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Winters has had the results of her research efforts published as abstracts and articles in peer-reviewed journals. She has also delivered several presentations at national medical conferences.
