Biography

LMC Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Omar Khan, M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Khan has extensive professional experience with an impressive academic and teaching background.

Dr. Khan graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. He then received his medical degree from the University of Dublin in Ireland.

After returning to the United States for his postgraduate education, Dr. Khan completed a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at East Tennessee State University, during which he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He went on to finish a surgical pathology fellowship at the Hartford Hospital Department of Pathology in Connecticut. He completed an additional fellowship in hematopathology at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and was a Visiting Fellow in hematopathology at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

During his time at East Tennessee State University, Dr. Khan concurrently functioned in many teaching roles, regularly giving lectures to pathology residents and medical students. Here, he was awarded the Phil S. Coogan Pathology Award for excellence in teaching. He also taught a gross conference while at Hartford Hospital, and produced 25 lectures for iTunes University online courses. He has worked as a Staff Pathologist with LMC Pathology Services since 2017.

Dr. Khan is a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the College of American Pathologists. He holds full medical licensure in the states of Arizona and Nevada. He is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Khan has had the results of his research published in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has also given many oral and poster presentations at professional society meetings, hospitals, and universities.
