Biography

ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Gregory A. Hosler, M.D., Ph.D., F.C.A.P., as a leader of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Hosler is a board-certified, award-winning dermatopathologist who brings extensive professional medical and leadership experience to his position. Dr. Hosler is the first president of the Sonic Healthcare USA Dermatopathology Division.

Dr. Hosler graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. He earned his medical degree at University of Texas Southwestern and his doctoral degree at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX. He served a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, where he held the position of chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at the same institution.

Dr. Hosler has held positions in a variety of healthcare and educational settings. He is a clinical professor in the pathology and dermatology departments at UT Southwestern Medical School. He is an adjunct clinical professor of dermatology at Texas A&M and Baylor, Scott, & White, in Dallas, and an adjunct clinical professor in the internal medicine department at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in Fort Worth. Dr. Hosler has been a dermatopathologist at ProPath since 2006 and has been a member of its molecular diagnostics department since 2010. During this time, he also held the position of education director of the dermatopathology rotation of the UT Southwestern Medical School Dermatology and Pathology Residency Programs. Dr. Hosler was the director of dermatopathology at ProPath before becoming president of the Sonic Healthcare USA Dermatopathology Division. In addition to his position as president, he is also the director of the dermatopathology fellowship program at ProPath. He has received numerous awards. He has been awarded the presidential award from the Texas Society of Pathologists three times, as well as a presidential citation from the American Society of Dermatopathology and a dedicated service award from the North Texas Society of Pathologists.

Dr. Hosler has over 40 original, peer-reviewed articles published in journals such as the American Journal of Pathology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Human Pathology, Journal of Molecular Diagnostics, and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, among many others. He has published two books, Diagnostic Dermatopathology: A Guide to Ancillary Tests Beyond the H&E and Molecular Diagnostics in Dermatology: Practical Applications of Molecular Testing for the Diagnosis and Management of the Dermatology Patient. Dr. Hosler currently sits on the editorial boards for Diagnostic Pathology, ISRN Pathology, DermAtlas, and The DermPath Forum. He is an ad hoc reviewer for journals such as the American Journal of Dermatopathology, Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, and Modern Pathology, among others.

Dr. Hosler sat on the board of directors for the Texas Society of Pathologists until 2020 and is now a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology and the College of American Pathologists. He is a member of professional organizations such as the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatology Foundation, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, among others.
