Biography

CBM Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Cynthia M. Bruzzi, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Bruzzi is a board-certified pathologist with extensive professional experience in surgical pathology, breast, GYN, GI and cytopathology, serving in both hospital and private laboratory environments.

Dr. Bruzzi graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She served her anatomic and clinical pathology residency at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C, before completing a cytopathology fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Dr. Bruzzi started as a staff pathologist for Fairfax Pathology Associates and INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. She then spent five years as a staff pathologist at CBM Pathology in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Following her time at CBM Pathology, Dr. Bruzzi held the position of staff pathologist and sub-chief of cytopathology at Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Rockville, MD. While there, she served as sub-chief of microbiology and cytopathology, and laboratory director for several Kaiser Permanente medical centers in Maryland. Prior to re-joining CBM Pathology, she was a staff pathologist and the medical director for the microbiology department at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Maryland.

Dr. Bruzzi belongs to professional organizations such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists, American Society of Cytopathology, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Bruzzi holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology.
