Biography

 CBLPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Andrew Kanik, M.D., F.A.S.D.P., F.C.A.P., F.A.S.C.P., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Kanik is a double board-certified pathologist with specialized training in dermatopathology and further interest in histopathology. He has additional areas of interest that include alopecia and inflammatory dermatoses. 

Dr. Kanik earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed two residencies. The first was a surgical pathology residency, followed by an anatomic and clinical pathology residency, at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center (formerly, New York Hospital), where he served as chief resident. Following his residencies, he completed a fellowship in oncologic surgical pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York under Dr. Juan Rosai. This was followed by a two-year dermatopathology fellowship, including six months of dermatology, at Boston University Medical Center under Dr. Jag Bhawan. 

Prior to his arrival at CBLPath, Dr. Kanik served as director of dermatopathology, and later as executive medical director of dermatopathology, at DIANON Systems, Inc. 

Dr. Kanik has a variety of publications under his name. He’s published peer-reviewed articles on melanoma and vascular tumors in several dermatopathology and dermatology medical journals. He has also written a chapter on skin in the textbook In Histology for Pathologists. 

Dr. Kanik is a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology, the College of American Pathologists, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He is also a member of the American Academy of Dermatology. 

Dr. Kanik holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology, and in dermatopathology by both the American Board of Pathology and the American Board of Dermatology.
