Biography

 CBLPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Ann M. Avitabile, M.D., F.C.A.P., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Avitabile is a pathologist with professional and teaching experience at some of the best hospitals and medical schools in the United States. 

Dr. Avitabile completed her medical degree at New York University School of Medicine in New York, New York. She served her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the New York University Langone Medical Center’s Department of Pathology. After her residency, she completed a fellowship in cytopathology at The American Board of Pathology (ABP) accredited Cytopathology Fellowship Training Program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. 

Dr. Avitabile began her career as an assistant attending pathologist at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, NY. She was then promoted to associate attending before being named senior attending pathologist. While there, she also served as chief of cytopathology. Prior to her current position at CBLPath, she was a cytopathologist at CDx Diagnostics in Montebello, NY. Dr. Avitabile moved to CBLPath in Rye Brook, NY, where she is a cytopathologist and a senior pathologist. 

Dr. Avitabile also brings research and academic experience. She has been published in several peer-reviewed journals. She has also taught by invitation at various prestigious schools and medical institutions such as New York University, Columbia University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, all in New York, NY. 

Dr. Avitabile is a member of the American Society of Cytopathology. 

Dr. Avitabile holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic pathology and cytopathology.
