Consultants in Laboratory Medicine, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include Derrick Forchetti, M.D., to its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Forchetti has an impressive and extensive academic, technical, and medical professional background.

Dr. Forchetti earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Chemistry and German, graduating with distinction, cum laude, from the Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Subsequently, he earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. He then went on to complete his anatomic and clinical pathology residency while holding the position of chief resident at the Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. He went on to earn his Master of Science degree, specializing in data science, from the University of Wisconsin Extended Campus in Madison, WI, thus concluding his post-graduate studies and training.

Dr. Forchetti, transitioned to the South Bend Medical Foundation in South Bend, IN where he held his anatomic and clinical pathology position in addition to his position as chief medical information officer (CMIO). Concurrently, he held a position as a consultant for Google Medical Brain specializing in a wide array of subjects such as, digital pathology, artificial intelligence in pathology, and radiology. He also has experience as an assistant professor in the department of advanced hematology and cancer at Indiana University South Bend, in South Bend, IN.

Dr. Forchetti is proficient in areas of laboratory medicine with a special interest in hematopathology. He has experience in information technology, data science, and is actively involved in the research and application of medical imaging, artificial intelligence, and other medical technologies, serving as a bridge between clinical and technical realms.

Dr. Forchetti has been honored with academic achievements and holds professional medical licenses and certification in addition to his extensive research. Dr. Forchetti is a member of the College of American Pathologists, American Society for Clinical Pathology, Association for Pathology Informatics, and the Digital Pathology Association.

Dr. Forchetti holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
