Biography
Western Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Peter F. Ames, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Ames is a board-certified pathologist with subspecialty expertise
in hematopathology.
Dr. Ames graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from California State University in San Francisco. He earned his medical degree at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. He served his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at University California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where he held the position of chief resident. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in hematopathology, also at UC Davis Medical Center.
Dr. Ames started as a hospital pathologist at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento after his fellowship. He then took a position as a hospital pathologist at Central Oregon Pathology Consultants in Bend, Oregon. Prior to joining Western Pathology, he spent 20 years as a hospital pathologist at Sierra Pathology Associates in Reno, Nevada.
Dr. Ames has peer-reviewed manuscripts published in Human Pathology and the International Journal of Surgical Pathology.
Dr. Ames is a member of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Ames holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology.
