Biography
Brazos Valley Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Marcela Jimenez, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Jimenez has extensive hospital and laboratory experience with an impressive academic background.
Dr. Jimenez received her medical degree from the Universidad El Bosque School of Medicine in Bogota, Colombia.
After relocating to the United States to complete her postgraduate training, Dr. Jimenez served a three-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Hershey Medical Center of Penn State University, during which she served as Chief Resident. She later completed a surgical/oncologic pathology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Dr. Jimenez has since developed a considerable professional career serving hospitals and laboratories. She is affiliated with five hospitals in the St. Joseph Regional Health System, as well as The Physicians Centre and the Christus Dubuis Hospital System in Bryan, Texas. She has worked as a Private Practice General Surgical Pathologist at the Centro Citopatologico del Caribe in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and participated in clinical laboratory inspections for both the College of American Pathologists and the Hershey Medical Center. She was also the Laboratory Director of Greater Philadelphia Spine & Pain in Havertown, Pennsylvania. She has served Brazos Valley Pathology since 2011.
Dr. Jimenez is a member of the College of American Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. She holds full medical licensure in the state of Texas, and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
Dr. Jimenez has had the efforts of her research published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has also given many presentations and lectures at professional medical conferences and universities alike.
