Biography

Global Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare Dermatopathology Practice, is privileged to include Andrew J. Hanly, M.D., as a member of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Hanly has an extensive academic and medical professional background.

Dr. Hanly received his medical degree (MB/BCh/BAO) from the University College Galway in Galway, Ireland followed by a one-year internship. He then relocated to the United States to begin his postgraduate training with a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed an additional residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Jackson Memorial Hospital/Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida, where he served as chief resident in his third year. He concluded his postgraduate training with a dermatopathology fellowship at the Jackson Memorial Hospital/Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Hanly has served with distinction in a series of key appointments within both the academic and clinical pathology arenas.

Upon completion of his post-graduate training, Dr. Hanly began holding key positions as an attending pathologist in surgical and autopsy pathology, transfusion medicine, and dermatopathology, all at Jackson Memorial Hospital/Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. Here, he also held the position for consulting medical dermatopathologist before becoming medical director and dermatopathologist at Global Pathology in Miami Lakes, Florida.

Dr. Hanly is a talented and highly sought-after pathology instructor. He has been involved in academics as an attending physician at the Jackson Memorial Hospital/Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine and is actively involved in the teaching of dermatology and dermatopathology residents, nationwide, who visit Global Pathology for the purpose of completing their residency program.

Over the years, Dr. Hanly has developed extensive professional and clinical experience. He holds medical research publications and articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. He is an active member of numerous societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Dermatopathology, and the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Hanly holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and dermatopathology.
