Biography

Austin Pathology Associates, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Robert Charles Stern, M.D., F.A.C.P., as a member of our medical staff. Serving APA since 2000, Dr. Stern has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic background.

Dr. Stern graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He received his medical degree (with highest honors) from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He went on to complete his anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Stern has extensive professional and hospital experience. He is affiliated with ten hospitals in Texas, including Heart Hospital, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, North Austin Medical Center and South Austin Medical Center. Dr. Stern has served in a number of leadership positions including committee and task force experience. He is currently the chairman of the Infectious Disease Prevention Committee at St. David’s Georgetown.

Dr. Stern has authored and coauthored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, books and academic abstracts.

Dr. Stern is a member of six medical professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the College of American Pathologists, and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Stern holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and internal medicine.
