Biography

South Texas Dermatopathology, a Sonic Healthcare dermatopathology practice is privileged to include Mohammed Lilo, M.D., F.C.A.P., F.A.S.C.P., as a valued member of our medical staff. A consummate professional with extensive training and an award-winning academic background, Dr. Lilo brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his position as a dermatopathologist.

Dr. Lilo received his medical degree from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine in Iraq, where he also served a two-year medical internship and a surgical pathology fellowship. During this time, he was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Academic Accomplishment.

He then relocated to the United States for his postgraduate training, starting with a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore, Maryland. Here, he subsequently completed a cytopathology fellowship and was awarded the Eggleston Pathology Award. He went on to complete a dermatopathology fellowship at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

During his postgraduate training, Dr. Lilo also operated in a number of laboratory and teaching positions. He was Assistant Professor of General Pathology at the University of Baghdad, where he was responsible for teaching third and fourth-year medical students. He was also Director of the Iraqi Red- Crescent Laboratories in Baghdad. While at Johns Hopkins, he led laboratory workshops and held many conferences for interns and residents, teaching alongside attending physicians.

Dr. Lilo is a fellow member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the College of American Pathologists, and he is a member of five other professional medical organizations. He holds full medical licensure in the state of Texas and maintains medical board certification in Iraq. He is board-certified in dermatopathology, cytopathology, and anatomic and clinical pathology.

Dr. Lilo has authored and coauthored 18 articles that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has also given many oral and poster presentations at professional society meetings.
