Biography
Arizona Dermatopathology, a Sonic Healthcare dermatopathology practice is privileged to include Nicole C. Hoxworth, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Hoxworth has extensive professional experience with an impressive academic background.
Dr. Hoxworth graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in Tempe with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Following a medical research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, she received her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, during which she completed another research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Hoxworth went on to serve a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, during which she was the recipient of the College of American Pathologists Young Leader Award. She later completed a dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
Since completing her postgraduate training, Dr. Hoxworth has held a number of committee positions and garnered considerable professional experience. With the College of American Pathologists, she was on the Residents Forum Delegate and the Professional Affairs Committee, and also served as their Laboratory Inspector Team Leader. She was a Forensic Pathology Prosector and Instructor at the Marion County Coroner’s Office. She has also worked for Global Pathology where she was a Dermatopathologist and Director of Medical Student Education, roles which she has held at Arizona Dermatopathology since 2012.
Dr. Hoxworth belongs to five professional medical organizations, such as the American Society of Dermatopathology and the International Society of Dermatopathology. She holds full medical licensure in six states, including Arizona, California, Ohio, and Oregon. She is board-certified in dermatopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology.
A gifted writer and presenter, Dr. Hoxworth has coauthored peer-reviewed medical articles and delivered numerous presentations and lectures at professional society meetings and universities.
