Biography

CytoPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Teresa L. Venz-Williamson, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Venz-Williamson has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic background.

Dr. Venz-Williamson graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in natural science and mathematics. She then received her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine.

Dr. Venz-Williamson went on to complete a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Baptist Medical Centers in Birmingham, AL, during which she served as Chief Resident in her final year. She returned to the University of Alabama School of Medicine to finish a cytopathology fellowship.

Since concluding her postgraduate training, Dr. Venz-Williamson has garnered considerable professional experience in a series of key positions across hospitals and practices throughout Alabama. She has served as a Consulting Pathologist at the Monroe County Medical Center, Jackson Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center, and Vaughan Regional Medical Center; for the latter, she was also Medical Director. She was the Chief of Medical Staff at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, where she was also Chief Pathologist for 14 years. She has worked with CytoPath since 1994, currently serving as Staff Pathologist and Medical Director.

Dr. Venz-Williamson is a member of six professional medical organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. She holds full medical licensure in the state of Alabama, and she is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.
