Biography
Consultants in Laboratory Medicine, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Peter S. Smythe, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Smythe has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic background.
Dr. Smythe graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a degree in Microbiology (with high distinction). He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School.
Dr. Smythe completed his residency in Pathology at University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Subsequently, he served as Chief Resident in Pathology (AC/CP) at the same University. He then completed a special fellowship in Surgical Pathology at The Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Smythe currently holds full medical licensure in the states of New York, Minnesota, Ohio, and Michigan and is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Smythe is a member of seven professional medical associations, including the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the Ohio Medical Association.
Dr. Smythe has co-authored two peer-reviewed journal articles and has been invited to present at Grand Rounds.
