Biography
LMC Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice is privileged to include Thong T. Nguyen, D.O., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Nguyen has extensive professional experience with an impressive academic background.
Dr. Nguyen graduated cum laude from the University of California in San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and cell biology. He then received his medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.
Dr. Nguyen served a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Here, he was awarded the Gbo Yuoh Award and the award for outstanding leadership as chief resident - winning each award twice – among other awards for his academic achievement. Dr. Nguyen went on to finish a surgical pathology fellowship at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, winning the award for an outstanding fellow of the year. He later completed a gastrointestinal and liver pathology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland.
Upon completing his postgraduate training, Dr. Nguyen served in a variety of key positions in hospitals across Nebraska. He was a gastrointestinal pathologist for the Catholic Health Initiative Hospitals in Omaha, where he later served as medical director of the anatomic division of the CHI-Omaha pathology department. He was also medical director of CHI-Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, as well as Memorial Community Hospital and Health System in Blair.
Dr. Nguyen’s research efforts have culminated in 11 articles, abstracts, and book chapters that have subsequently been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and textbooks. He has also given many abstract presentations at professional society meetings.
Dr. Nguyen holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
