Biography

CBM Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include Rachel Leah Katz, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Katz has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic and teaching background.

Dr. Katz went on to complete an obstetrics and gynecology internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Subsequently, she served a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency. She later completed special training in gastrointestinal pathology at the Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland under the guidance of Dr. Elizabeth Montgomery.

Since concluding her postgraduate training, Dr. Katz has garnered considerable professional experience in a series of key positions across hospitals and practices throughout Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. She was a Staff Pathologist at Onco Diagnostics Systems in Bethesda, Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, LabCorp in Herndon, Virginia, and the National Naval Medical Center. She worked as Staff Pathologist and Medical Director of the blood bank at the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, where she was a member of the cancer committee, tumor board committee, tissue and transfusion committee, and the quality management board. She was also an associate professor and the assistant course director of pathology classes at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda. She has worked with CBM Pathology since 2005, where she currently serves as a staff pathologist.

Dr. Katz holds full medical licensure in Maryland. She is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology.
