Biography

Brazos Valley Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Michael Cohen, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Cohen has extensive hospital experience and an impressive academic and professional background.

Dr. Cohen graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Texas A&M University in College Station, where he subsequently received his master’s degree in immunology and his medical degree.

Dr. Cohen went on to complete a pathology internship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He later completed a four-year residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas, the final year of which he served as Chief Resident.

Following his postgraduate training, Dr. Cohen garnered considerable hospital experience across the St. Joseph Regional Health System in Bryan, Texas in hospitals such as Madison St. Joseph Health Center and Burleson St. Joseph Health Center. He has held various key positions at St. Joseph Regional Health Center, including President of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Credentials Committee, and member of the Medical Executive Committee, Bylaws Committee, Planning Committee, and Physician Performance Improvement Committee.

Dr. Cohen has also served as Assistant Professor of Pathology and Director of Renal Pathology at the University of Utah Health Science Center in Salt Lake City. He has worked with Brazos Valley Pathology since 2000, currently acting as a Staff Pathologist and Laboratory Director.

Dr. Cohen is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, and a member of three other professional medical organizations, such as the American College of Physician Executives. He holds full medical licensure in the states of Maine, New York, Texas, and Utah, and he is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Cohen has authored and coauthored many abstracts and articles for peer-reviewed medical journals. He has also given oral and poster presentations at many professional society meetings.
