Biography
GPA Laboratories, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to include Benjamin J. Stahr, M.D., as a member of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Stahr has an extensive academic, teaching, and medical professional background.
Dr. Stahr earned a Bachelor of Science degree, graduating with distinction, summa cum laude, from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. Subsequently, he earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky in Lexington. He began his postgraduate training with a pathology residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he was chief resident in his third year. He then completed a dermatopathology fellowship at the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina under renowned pathologist, Dr. Herbert Z. Lund.
Upon completion of his postgraduate training, Dr. Stahr transitioned to his positions as a dermatopathologist and pathologist for Atlanta Dermatopathology and Pathology Associates in Atlanta, Georgia, where he concurrently held his position as an assistant clinical professor at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He has been a medical director at SmithKline-Beecham Laboratory in East Point, GA as well as a medical director and chief of dermatopathology at Greensboro Pathology Associates in Greensboro, NC, prior to his positions as a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill and his position as a dermatopathologist and pathologist at Greensboro Pathology Services, LLC, in Greensboro, NC.
Over the years, Dr. Stahr has developed extensive professional experience. He holds medical research publications and articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, as well as numerous abstracts, and oral and poster presentations at professional medical conferences. He is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Dermatopathology, and an active member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Stahr holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and dermatopathology.
